• Recoup Cost From Adding Windows ?

Posted Sep 9th, 2010 By Richard Landuyt in Real Estate Answers With | Comments Off

Q: Am buying Newpro replacement windows. Will this add significantly to resale value? Can I recoup my costs when I sell the house, as one does with money spent for kitchen improvements?

A: Windows, no matter what brand (for the most part) can add value in a ‘re sale’. You can re-coup the cost usually in saving of you energy bills (check with your energy provider / gas or electric company)

Any improvement will make a difference in resale, but that varies with each house & each sale. All that can be reported & measured is ‘averages’ of past sales.

The best indicator is what you recoup during your living there & what you (& your Family, if that is the case) enjoy / get out of it while you are living there! Improve for your comfort is the best RULE. Then – ENJOY!!
